In 2017, a group of community members and business owners met to discuss the needs of WPISD staff and students and how they could help the district fill gaps in funding. The WPISD Education Foundation was formed within months and they hit the ground running!
At the time of inception, stakeholders were able to donate to the Foundation as Founding Donors and staff members had the opportunity to use a payroll deduction to aid in the efforts. WPISD staff members were our largest donor!
Within two years, WPISDEF was able to grant teacher requests for over $60,000. As November of 2020, WPISDEF has granted over $190,000 to the students and staff of WPISD.
In 2019, the WPISD hosted its First Annual Gala, the Foundation's premiere fundraising event. This event was the first of its kind in Wills Point and sure to be the highlight of each year to come! By the end of the evening, community members raised $94,000 for the students of Wills Point! Two generous donors purchased grants in memory of two former WP students.
